When a landscape meets pragmatic dreamers, architects no less, and vice versa, what do you get? Lots of good things, including Les Cabanes Bois Basalte, perfectly sustainable buildings with views of the Chaîne-des-Puys. These are the works of idealists eager to put their convictions into practice, to share a setting, to imagine another way of inhabiting the landscape, to prove that contemporary buildings and the land can still be at one. Accommodation designed as a manifesto, then, but not only that. And that's where it gets really interesting and successful.
