Hameau de Saparale

Chez
Julie & Philippe Farinelli

In the heart of the Ortolo Valley, the hamlet of Saparale combines vineyards, mansions, sheepfolds, orchards, and scrubland. With views of La Cagna, a secluded swimming pool, and chef Jeremy Viven's cuisine, this is an exceptional Corsican estate steeped in history and surrounded by nature.

A renovated mansion, a large living room with fresco paintings, a hidden chapel, rooms and suites overlooking the vineyards and Mount Cagna, a swimming pool nestled in the middle of a citrus orchard, miles of hiking trails winding through scrubland and forests, sheepfolds... They devoted themselves entirely to this southern land, to this valley, the Ortolo, which some say is blessed. Philippe promised himself that he would restore this 1,000-hectare estate, with its incredible, even romantic history, which his grandmother had inherited, to the aura and renown it deserved, and Julie threw herself into the project without holding back. It necessarily began with the vineyard (the founder of the Saparale estate, Philippe de Rocca Serra, put Corsican wines on the map at the end of the 19th century): 3 hectares of vines were replanted in 1998, and today they have 54. The wines are powerful, complex and distinctive, and the estate is HVE certified. After restoring three sheepfolds, it took more than three years of work to transform the house and outbuildings, restoring their lustre and character without betraying their history, enabling them to welcome guests here and there, and entrusting the table to chef Jeremy Viven. A true renaissance, without artifice or pretence, of an estate in the heart of terra di sgio, the ‘Land of Lords’.
