The Hôtel du Phare has been given a facelift without losing any of its soul. Now it is a collection of apartments overlooking the harbor, it also houses a restaurant redesigned by Jean-Michel Wilmotte and run by island chef Laurent Clément.
When a legendary hotel, the Hôtel Du Phare, gets a facelift without losing any of its soul, it's nothing short of a miracle. Here, the rooms have been converted into apartments for rent, with views of the harbor, decorated with care but without any superfluous frills. From here, you can watch the island fill up with tourists pouring off the ferries... and empty out in the evening, leaving you with an island that is not quite deserted but almost untouched. The restaurant has been completely redesigned by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte with a few nice nods to Brittany in the form of stylized Bigouden vest designs, and revamped by chef Laurent Clément, a native of the island, who offers enlightened, local cuisine (he favors zero emissions), sustainable and, of course, very marine-inspired.
