La Ville d'Hiver is first and foremost the name of a neighborhood in Arcachon, home to beautiful 19th-century villas and a Générale des Eaux water pumping station, an industrial building with retro charm that Nathalène and Olivier Arnoux acquired to turn into a hotel. Opened in 2009, it was designed and decorated in the spirit of a family home, without fanfare, fuss, or excess. Here, the owners are committed to promoting arts and culture, welcoming writers in residence, exhibiting visual artists, and inviting musicians. The restaurant is a well-known local haunt, and during the summer, the hotel moves to Pereire Beach in the form of an annex, one of the few beach clubs on the Landes coast and certainly still one of the most popular in the area.
