In Ambronay, a former elementary school has been renovated, revamped, and reinvented with flair and a touch of humor by Nathalie Schlienger. Get your notebooks ready!
It has everything: a courtyard, lime trees, a hopscotch grid, and a blackboard. La Maison d'Ambronay is located just opposite the abbey and welcomes its guests in a carefully renovated former elementary school, the René Cassin School. The tasteful décor, cleverly sourced antiques, and charming details—the rooms are named according to the french grades, CE1, CE2, CE3—will make you never want to leave. You won't want to miss the little shop selling local products that Nathalie Schlienger has created. There, you'll find beautiful stationery reflecting her former career as a printer, among other things. Nathalie is happy to share her tips and favorite places and opens up her extensive address book to you. Add a foosball table and a pinball machine, and you're all set. The only thing missing is the soundtrack of your childhood.
