La Queurie
Chez
Thekla Benevello
Nestled in a bend of the Orne River, this manor house might have simply disappeared without the energy of Thekla and Luc. Restored with passion, it retains its centuries-old soul between farmland and unspoiled nature. Swimming in summer, walks in winter, gardening all year round: here at La Queurie, time undoubtedly passes more slowly than elsewhere.
Here is a manor house nestled in a bend of the Orne River that could have remained in ruins, been forgotten, and perhaps even disappeared if it hadn't been for the energy, passion, and patience of Thekla and her husband Luc. Years of work have not dampened their passion for this piece of farmland between the Normandy coast and Perche. They have completely renovated the property from floor to ceiling, while respecting its centuries-old character. In summer, the more courageous guests swim in the Orne River, which borders the garden. In winter, we put on our boots and set off to explore the countryside: here, there are undoubtedly still far more cows than inhabitants (even counting second homes), and this is surely what gives the area its magic and charm. And throughout the year, we can also help Thekla with her gardening, which is her passion.
3 good reasons to go
- because it's in a part of Normandy that's still off the beaten track
- because Thekla has demonstrated her very personal and sure taste here
- because you're in the heart of a perfectly “designed” natural setting.
