Le Domaine de l'Hostellerie

Chez
Lise et Gilles Dufetel

Bringing this estate built from Caen limestone back to life required patience and passion. Located between Caen and Bayeux, a stone's throw from the D-Day beaches, Le Domaine de l'Hostellerie offers guest rooms, cottages, and even yoga retreats in a peaceful and authentic setting in the heart of the Normandy countryside.

It took rolling up our sleeves and certainly arming ourselves with patience to breathe new life into this estate built from Caen limestone. One guest room, then another, and another... then a cottage, set up in a former smokehouse... Here, between Caen and Bayeux, slightly inland from the D-Day beaches, in the heart of immaculate countryside, you can sense that everything has been done with patience, naturalness, heart, and generosity. And because the setting lends itself to it—where calm and space are essential—Le Domaine de l’Hostellerie features a dedicated wellness area where massages are offered, and now also organizes yoga retreats.

3 good reasons to go

  • because the owners themselves are parents of two young children, everything has been designed with kids in mind, including teenagers
  • because it is only a short drive from the D-Day beaches
  • because, since its inception (built in 1791), the estate has been dedicated to welcoming travelers.
