Namo

Chez
Alison et Jason

The Normandy countryside, hedgerows, and a contemporary Japanese ryokan, perfectly eco-designed. Namo, the venture of two charmingly eccentric visionaries, offers a sanctuary where the soul can unwind during a yoga retreat.

You have to be a little crazy to imagine a ryokan in the heart of the Normandy countryside, and you have to be extremely talented to ensure that it never borders on the anecdotal. She is a fashion designer, he is a photographer, and a dream is born on a quay on the Île Saint-Louis in Paris. They fought every battle and saw through what could have remained a pipe dream: a totally eco-designed place, inspired by all their travels, with beautifully clean lines. Walls made of straw, wood, and cork, insulation made from old newspapers or recycled jeans, foundations made from recycled glass, south-facing bay windows: no air conditioning or heating. Rainwater is collected and recycled, and wood is burned for heat. It took them six long years to bring Namo to life, to make this sanctuary a reality. They organize yoga retreats there, where guests can enjoy vegetarian cuisine, or simply go for a weekend to soak up the atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
