In the south of Champagne, on the banks of the Seine, an 18th-century house renovated by Alexis Cautain and Kelly Lippmann continues the adventure of Le Garde Champêtre. Simplicity and serenity, antique furniture, a garden by the water, echoes of an organic farm and Kazuya Miyashita's cuisine, just ten minutes away.
This is the flip side of Champagne, further south, more modest and discreet, and also quieter. It was here, in a village on the banks of the Seine, that a group of partners with a variety of skills first opened Le Garde Champêtre in 2018, a restaurant now run by Kazuya Miyashita, alongside a 1-hectare organic farm managed by Suzane Christensen. Ten minutes away, in the summer of 2020, the team expanded its offering with this 18th-century house, completely renovated by architect Alexis Cautain and interior designer Kelly Lippmann, whose garden borders the river (still modest at this height). The decor is uncomplicated, with a few beautiful antique pieces of furniture, lovely black and white bathrooms, and a serenity that envelops you as soon as you step through the door.
