In a hamlet perched high in the Périgord Pourpre region, a former fashion designer and her husband have converted an old farm complex into two houses for rent: La Grange, with its contemporary style, and Bel-Air, which is more traditional. Two family homes, designed with children in mind, with a swimming pool, games, and open views of the countryside.

In this tiny hamlet, perched on a hill, they are alone. Alone to enjoy the view of the Périgord countryside, known as Pourpre, a land of wines (Montbazillac) and fortified towns. She, a former fashion designer who switched to interior design, and he, a real estate investor, fell in love with this group of houses with an agricultural shed, left Paris and the Oise region to settle here, with one foot here and one foot in Hossegor. They converted the shed into a house called La Grange, with the look of a contemporary loft. One of the houses became Bel-Air, a more bourgeois-style home. La Grange can accommodate up to 12 people, Bel-Air up to 15; each has its own swimming pool (saltwater, heated, and secure), one facing east, the other west. Both houses feature light, monochromatic tones, sometimes with a beautiful powdery finish. Above all, Caroline had children in mind when designing these houses. There is a cabin, off-limits to adults, for reading, tucked away in a playroom, with three-tier bunk beds, toys, and indoor and outdoor games.

3 good reasons to go

  1. because you can also go there with a large group and book both houses
  2. because it's a paradise for children, with everything designed with them in mind
  3. because it's in a part of Périgord that's less well known than the black or white regions, but just as attractive.
Price

La Grange, 5 bedrooms, sleeps up to 12 people, from €650 per night. Bel-Air, 8 bedrooms, sleeps up to 15 people, from €850 per night.
