La Rougie

Chez
Kelly & François

In the heart of Périgord, a farmhouse with red shutters is undergoing a gentle revival. Natural materials, subtle colors, generous spaces: deliberate simplicity and unspoiled character, right down to the local and inspired cuisine served at the table d'hôte.

Nearby, the Dordogne River flows peacefully. Woods and meadows cover a total of 5 hectares. And at their heart lies this old farmhouse with red shutters, completely renovated without losing any of its soul. With subtle, deliberately soft colors, often treated in monochrome, natural and equally soft materials, and generous volumes, this French-American couple has opted for simplicity without sacrificing character. Nothing here seems to have been brought in by chance or force; everything is there because it is natural and obvious. Just like at the table d'hôte where, in the evening, they skillfully mix influences while remaining as local as possible, cooking vegetables from their garden or working with organic producers in the neighborhood.

3 good reasons to go

  1. Because it is an excellent starting point for discovering the gems of the Purple and Black Périgord, the Dordogne is within walking distance, and fortified towns and castles are within driving distance.
  2. Because of the siesta in summer, in the shade of this lime tree.
  3. Because of swimming in summer in the nearby Dordogne River.
