La Belle Folie, a bold project where ecology and creativity merge. Unusual cabins designed by architecture students, a locavore restaurant in a greenhouse, green energy, and community spirit... An atypical eco-friendly place in the heart of nature, a little crazy, but incredibly inspiring.
At first glance, it looks like the brainchild of a bunch of crazy dreamers... except that it has taken shape and makes perfect sense. Eco-designed and eco-managed, this Belle Folie hits the mark with its quirky cabins designed by students from the Nantes National School of Architecture. There are no limits: a caravan sits on a menhir, a wooden house becomes a totem, two Canadian tents are stacked on top of each other... All this in the middle of a forest, with the greenest possible energy sources, funding described as “sustainable,” a dynamic community spirit to come up with events and activities, and a restaurant in a greenhouse serving mainly locally sourced food... It's a bit hippie, but above all, it's very cool.

To get there by train?The nearest TER and TGV train station: Auray (approximately 6 miles)In summer, the charmingly named “Le Tire-Bouchon” line, connecting Auray to Quiberon, stops at Belz-Ploemel.
