La Sardineta

Chez
Charly & Ceri

Tucked away in the picturesque village of Saint-Cado, overlooking the Etel Ria in Morbihan, La Sardineta—conceived and designed by Charly and Ceri—offers the experience of a getaway straight out of a postcard.

After an active life in Paris, followed by a round-the-world trip in 2018, Charly and Ceri returned home looking for somewhere to put down roots without going back to the capital, and with the idea of embarking on new adventures. Their first project, a small wooden cabin designed in the Normandy marshes, gave them a taste for creating a place where they could welcome people—and the desire to take the idea further. Their search eventually led them to southern Brittany, where they fell in love with this beautiful house in the picturesque village of Saint-Cado, one of the oldest in the village. Its particularity? It has three floors, each with its own independent access, allowing for a variety of flexible spaces. They were won over. Three years of building work followed, during which Charly and Ceri completely reimagined the property, combining its historic fabric with contemporary comfort. Of the former holiday home, which was occupied only in summer, only the travertine on the ground floor remains. Charly, who turned to photography around ten years ago, has a keen eye and a strong sense of beauty. Ceri, meanwhile, takes care of the practical and functional side of things. The combination works. The spaces are as enjoyable to look at as they are to live in. The wood, worked by Charly, creates broad swathes of colour, complemented by the understated design elsewhere, the natural light and the views over the Étel ria. Maison d’été lives up to its name: in summer, the village comes alive with festivals and a bustling tourist season, while the other three seasons are no less appealing, each with their own charms and attractions.
