Chez
David Pirone

@stephaniedavilma

In Hyères, David Pirone has transformed a former Belle Époque palace into an arty, festive hotel. Designed by Haddou-Dufourcq, this retreat combines stylish design, a botanical patio, and Mediterranean cuisine from chef Emmanuel Perrodin, offering a joyful escape in the heart of a city that becomes the world capital of design every year.

Entrepreneur David Pirone, known for his festive restaurant Marais Plage and his designer hotel La Reine Jane, had his heart set on the city center for his third project in Hyères. True to his aesthetic tastes, he commissioned Kim Haddou and Florent Dufourcq to restore the resort atmosphere of one of these grand, opulent hotels, created on the French Riviera by the English at the end of the 19th century. Brunch on the patio or a drink at the bar, by the fireplace and rattan sofas, reissues of pieces by Gabriella Crespi ? The two designers, winners of the 2018 Design Parade, had fun mixing stucco, immaculate latticework, poplar burl, and a vanilla-ochre color palette to dissect a timeless atmosphere. A few carefully selected works by contemporary artists from the Villa Noailles' guests punctuate the softly lit corridors. The highlight behind this discreet façade is the patio and its swimming lane, designed like a botanical garden. Visitors, festival-goers, and Hyères residents mingle here to share brunch, aperitifs, lunch in the shade of the pergola, or rare wine tastings. Inspired by the Mediterranean, Chef Emmanuel Perrodin doesn't hesitate to come up with “extraordinary dinners” or “grand afternoon teas” to maintain the festive spirit of this intimate place. The former Belle Époque palace now hosts arty getaways for balmy summer evenings.
