Etxeaona
Chez
Marie Berolatti
Despite its Basque-sounding name, there is no Nive or Adour river here: Etxeaonna is nestled in a bend of the Seine, very close to Giverny. An XXL guest room (100 m²!) designed as an ideal retreat: part studio under a glass roof, part immaculate loft, part rustic refuge, but above all a setting where the essentials take center stage.
Don't look for the Nive or the Adour rivers: despite its very Basque-sounding name (Etxea, meaning “house” in Basque), we are indeed in one of the loops of the Seine, on the edge of Normandy, not far from the gardens of Giverny! Marie wanted to give a nod to her region of origin, but that's where the reference ends. This unique, XXL guest room (not enough X's, it's 1,070 square feet!) is the perfect hideaway to reconnect/recharge, work in seclusion, rest/get away from it all. Part studio (the magic of the large glass roof), part loft (the power of white), part rustic (the strength of a natural setting), it is at once sober, almost monastic (ultra-sleek decor) and very warm (ultra-well-thought-out decor). It is the kind of country bedroom we sometimes fantasize about.
3 good reasons to go
- Because you can plan trips to Giverny, the Claude Monet museum, the French Vexin Regional Nature Park, the Seine...
- Because you can plan to stay put and not move from there
- Because it's a very personal house that you quickly feel at home in
For 2 people, from €195 per night (minimum 2 nights)
