l'Epicerie du Pape

Chez
Chez Karine et François Sédard

A stone's throw from Lyons-la-Forêt, L'Épicerie du Pape is the ideal country house, combining old-world charm with a flea market spirit. In this former grocery store that has been reinvented, Karine has combined vintage finds with simplicity. A flower-filled garden, a small swimming pool, cozy bedrooms... and even a Tiny House for a bucolic getaway.

L’Epicerie du Pape is a bit like the dream country house, ours or that of kind friends who are always ready to welcome us. About 60 miles from Paris, near the pretty village of Lyons-la-Forêt, Karine found the house, a former grocery store from the early 20th century, which allowed her to satisfy her desire for greenery and express her talent as a bargain hunter. The decor is unpretentious but full of character, with a flower-filled garden and a small swimming pool... and for a weekend, you can settle into the “Le repos de la Mule” room and feel like you've found your home in the country. Next time, we might opt for the Tiny House.

3 good reasons to go

  1. because it's a bit like the country house you imagine, but without the hassles that usually go with it
  2. because it's a bit like paradise for kids
  3. because it's a faraway place very close to Paris.
Price

Two bedrooms in the house, plus a tiny house flanked by a vintage caravan and a lodge tent—from May to October—starting at €100 per night.
