Le Cotin Bleu

The vibrant Place du Vieux-Marché, a small street that branches off from it and leads to Rue des Bons-Enfants, a half-timbered building, a carriage entrance, a courtyard where the Latin grocery store has set up a few tables and serves margaritas, pisco sours, and/or well-balanced empanadas, and at the back, a door. Climb the three floors and enter a cocoon that seems to pay homage to the decorator and collector Madeleine Castaing, who allows herself very strong nods to the Hollywood Regency style, brilliantly mastering the art of contrasts and mischievously combining ideas. Leopard prints, 1970s lamps, golden pineapples, 18th-century portraits, antique engravings, Rouen tableware (of course) on one wall, flat areas of duck blue, mustard yellow, and sage green. clearly, Olesia and Blaise, who fell in love with Rouen, had fun turning this pied-à-terre, designed as much for themselves as for you, into a real escape where codes are mixed with clever finds. Two floors, with two bedrooms under the eaves, like a little house (cotin, in Norman) from which to explore the city at your leisure and, why not, visit the antique shops on Rue Damiette.
