Platzl Hotel am Platz Munich

Chez
Peter Inselkammer

Run by the same family since 1956, this four-star hotel has a very special connection with the famous Oktoberfest. Its owner even has a tent there, Armbrustschützenzelt, where people know how to drink and party, with Ayinger beer, produced by another branch of the family, on the menu.

He comes from a dynasty of brewers and hoteliers dating back to 1877! That's how well Peter Inselkammer, owner of the Platzl Hotel, knows how to welcome guests. In his “inn,” he promotes Munich tradition with Heiko Buchta, the manager. Behind the reception desk, the staff smiles, dressed in local colors: jackets or dirndls. The breakfast room evokes the famous Viktualienmarkt market with its small market-style stalls. It was designed by Dreimeta, the fashionable German architects who also completely revamped 15 new suites. These suites dust off the decor, which is perhaps still a little old-fashioned in other areas. So? Solid oak paneling, chamois leather coat hooks, thick linen lampshades reminiscent of old-fashioned flour sacks—we are, after all, in the location of a former mill. Bavarian chic with a modern twist. You get the picture: go for the suites!
