Chez
Theo Lindinger & Dominik Klier
At Munich's Viktualienmarkt, this historic stall sells and cooks nothing but potatoes. Around a hundred varieties are available all year round, prepared simply by chef Kay, sometimes with a guest Michelin-starred chef. Honest cuisine, reasonable prices, market spirit.
This is a stand with real bite! And with good reason: it only sells and serves potatoes. It's a long-standing tradition. The famous Viktualienmarkt market requires each new owner to retain the original specialty of the stall. So when Dominik and Theo took over the premises, they immersed themselves in the culture of tubers. Throughout the year, they offer around a hundred varieties for sale. In the kitchen, potatoes reign supreme with the help of their chef Kay. Salted, jacket potatoes, sautéed or mashed, they are enhanced with seasonal products, vegetarian or otherwise. Every month, a Michelin-starred chef is invited to work with the tuber. It's a way to enjoy a fine dining experience at a very reasonable price... except that you're still at a market. Here, it's informal, standing or sitting on crates.
