Maison 1634
Chez
Laure, Yannis & Marius
In Pézenas, Laure and Yannis run 1634, a bright guest house just a stone's throw from the historic center and the traces of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known as Molière. It's a place that skillfully combines heritage, sleek design, and a gentle way of life.
1634 reasons to visit Pézenas, a historic town with cobbled streets, 16th-century houses, 17th-century mansions, and references to Molière, who spent several years there with his theater company. It is also home to this guest house, a project launched by a young family seeking a new life. Laure and Yannis found this beautiful house on the edge of the historic center, completely renovated it, stripping it of the clutter that weighed it down and all the materials and finishes that detracted from its character. The result is a bright house offering a clear and serene living environment, with a terrace, garden, swimming pool, kitchen, and living room available to guests. Why 1634? Because that is the year that appears on the drawings of the ramparts of Pézenas made by Sieur Tassin, the royal geographer. Because it is also a nod to Laure's home department, the 16, and to the 34, where the couple met.
3 good reasons to go
- because Pézenas is an excellent base from which to explore the region
- because this house is incredibly bright, both literally and figuratively
- because it proves that a new life is always possible
