Chez
Marine & Lucas Madani

In the heart of the Houdan region, Marine and Lucas unveil a new retreat in their own image: a thoughtfully designed and deeply evocative holiday home, where inspired vintage finds meet clean contemporary lines and a countryside way of life, each detail inviting you to slow down, play, and savour time as it suddenly seems to move a little more gently.

We first discovered them at Le Moulin, deep in what’s known as the Sarthe Perche; here we meet Marine and Lucas again with this second opus of what already feels like a collection. A collection of homes made for memories—for laughter, for play, for afternoon naps; true holiday houses. And so here is this talented, deft duo, now in the heart of the Houdan region, on the edge of the Beauce and the Drouais. With that same spirit—an artful blend of inspired vintage finds and sharply defined contemporary lines, perfectly calibrated light and soft, muted tones, with occasional nods to ’70s design as well as to the no-style so beloved by grandmothers in the countryside. A mix and match that isn’t so mixed after all, so coherent is it (Lucas, it’s worth recalling, is one of the creative minds behind the Hauvette & Madani design studio), so naturally does it embody a certain art of living in the country. So while some will drift off for a nap between floral sheets, others will settle in for an afternoon of games with the kids in the family room, while others still will head out to explore the brocantes—of which there are plenty.

  • for the chef who can come to the house, the ceramics and embroidery teacher, the sophrology and relaxation practitioner…
  • for that delicious feeling of being somewhere familiar while at the same time completely transported
