Marnie House

Behind this revival are Flore and Jérémy, a couple in their thirties from the region, who chose to breathe new life into the place with a more personal approach while preserving everything that made it so charming. Just a few minutes from the beach (second row, as the locals say) and the town centre, Marnie House blends the spirit of a family home with a more contemporary aesthetic, where vintage finds converse with modern pieces. Nautical stripes, tartans (Le Touquet is often described as the most British of French seaside resorts), a Brutalist-inspired armchair, a frilled lampshade, red-trimmed banquettes, a velvet slipper chair, three antique tennis rackets casually placed in a corner (Le Touquet is home to one of the largest tennis clubs in France, probably the largest private club by number of courts), a kilim… they clearly had fun blurring the lines, and yet nothing here feels ostentatious or contrived—just a fresh, unpretentious atmosphere that makes you feel less like checking into a hotel than arriving at friends’. The project also reflects a new generation of independent hoteliers reclaiming existing places and giving them a distinctly more personal identity, far removed from standardised hospitality—imagining the kind of places where they themselves would love to be welcomed. Flore and Jérémy conceived Marnie House as a living place (the colouring books left out for children are a thoughtful touch), deeply rooted in its surroundings (with strong local sourcing, often organic, for breakfasts and apéritifs), where as much care is taken in welcoming guests as in recommending a walk through the dunes, a neighbourhood table, or a detour via the market (the place to be on Saturday mornings). But then, who exactly is Marnie?
