On the heights of L'Estaque, Casa Youm celebrates the Mediterranean in all its forms. Formerly Cézanne's home, now a guest house and table d'hôte, it combines sunshine, memories, chefs-in-residence, and joyful cultural diversity, facing the sea and the city.

From this hill in L'Estaque, from this Plateau du Peintre, the entire Mediterranean Sea lies before you. And it is indeed the Big Blue that we are talking about here. From Tunisia to Greece via Italy, and the Phocaean city, of course, Casa Youm draws inspiration from the lights, sounds, and flavors of the entire Mediterranean basin. The result is an all-white house full of sunshine (Youm; day in Arabic), colors, and cheerfulness, where the painter Cézanne once stayed. Today, everything blends together in a joyful maelstrom. The garden is in harmony, of course, with a swimming pool and views of the city and the bay. And here, a small path leads us to the top, guarded by a Genoese tower where the painter is said to have liked to set up his easel. Since June 2025, Casa Youm has opened its table d’hôtes to the public and has been hosting a chef-in-residence for two months at a time. More specifically, a female chef—and Franco-Tunisian chef Khouloude Ben Thayer—opened the series and will return this summer (from 18 June). Through her cooking, she once again invites in the Mediterranean—always—but memory above all: the memory of those homes and tables filled with light and laughter.

3 good reasons to go

  1. for that feeling of overlooking the entire city, Old Port included
  2. for that sun-soaked atmosphere, irresistibly sun-soaked
  3. to discover Khouloude Ben Thayer’s deeply inspired cuisine
Price

3 bedrooms, from €200 per night, and table d’hôtes from €60 (€70 in summer).
