Right in the heart of the so-called Golden Triangle, where the Perche region concentrates the best of its gourmet addresses (restaurants, producers, and the Saturday market in Mortagne-au-Perche), there is a forest, a small wood, and at its heart, a wooden house.

Wood inside, wood outside, wood on top, this house was designed by architect Hugo Haas and redefines the genre. Surrounded by chestnut, oak, and birch trees, its lines are so pure and clean that they almost disappear. Here between two trees, a hammock; there, a furnished terrace, made of wood, naturally. All that remains is to sit on the Togo sofa, listen to the birds singing, watch for deer passing by, and observe the ballet of the squirrels. All that remains is to sit in the bathtub of this pine-green bathroom with the window wide open, listen, smell nature, and play Robinson Crusoe, in a comfortable and not-so-wild version.

3 good reasons to go

  1. because there's almost nothing as good as forest bathing
  2. because being a stone's throw from Mortagne also means being at the heart of the action
  3. because you'll get to visit all the antique dealers and secondhand shops
