Trama en Perche

Good things come in threes. First there was Café Trama, their first restaurant, then Tram, their first concept (a coffee shop and bookstore) in Paris. These experiences allowed Marion Trama and Paul Hayat to cut their teeth. Now there is Trama en Perche, their guest house in Mortagne, nestled among the picturesque hills of Lower Normandy. From the Left Bank of Paris to the Perche countryside, it was just a short step, or rather a huge crush, on the region and this fabulous 18th-century building that was just waiting to be given a new lease of life. It was a crush big enough to convince these die-hard Parisians to leave everything behind and start again. It took a year of work to renovate, furnish, and decorate the property to their taste. More than a guest house, it is a “house of sharing,” as Marion Trama likes to say. The couple offers four bedrooms and gives guests access to the living room and garden. In the morning, everyone is invited to sit around the huge table d'hôte to share breakfast. Between bites of croissants or cinnamon rolls, guests enjoy simple conviviality and lively conversations about the best walks in the forest or finds at the antique shops in Mortagne.
